Pre-Application Preparation

Step 1 — Wash your hair: Wash your hair with a clarifying or sulphate-based shampoo to remove all oils, product buildup and silicones. The tape adhesive bonds best to clean, oil-free hair. Do NOT use conditioner on the root area — only on mid-lengths and ends.

Step 2 — Dry completely: Blow-dry your hair fully. Tape adhesive does not bond to damp hair. Ensure the root area where tape-ins will be placed is completely dry.

The Sandwich Method — How Tape-Ins Work

Tape-in extensions work in pairs — two adhesive strips (top and bottom) "sandwich" a thin section of your natural hair between them. The tape on the top strip sticks to the tape on the bottom strip, with your hair locked in between. This creates a flat, secure bond that lays flush against your head.

Key principles:

• Each sandwich uses two tape-in wefts — one placed above the hair section, one below
• The natural hair section between the two strips should be thin (approximately 0.5-1 cm wide) — too thick and the tape will not bond securely

Step-by-Step Application

Step 1 — Section Your Hair

Use a rat-tail comb to create a clean horizontal parting about 3 cm above the nape of your neck. Clip all hair above this parting out of the way. You will work from the bottom of your head upward, section by section.

Step 2 — Isolate a Thin Hair Section

Within your bottom section, isolate a thin strip of hair approximately the same width as your tape-in weft. The strip should be 0.5-1 cm thick (about 20-30 strands). Too much hair makes the bond weak; too little hair cannot support the weight.

Peel the protective backing from one tape-in weft. Slide it underneath your isolated hair section with the adhesive side facing up. Position it approximately 1 cm below your roots. Press the sticky side against the underside of your natural hair section.

Step 4 — Place the Top Tape-In

Peel the backing from the matching tape-in weft. Place it directly on top of the hair section with the adhesive side facing down — directly aligned with the bottom strip. Press the two strips together firmly, sandwiching your natural hair between them.

Step 5 — Seal the Bond

Press the sandwich firmly between your fingers for 5-10 seconds. For a stronger bond, gently clamp a flat iron (low heat, around 120°C) over the tape area for 2-3 seconds — this heat-activates the adhesive for maximum hold. Do not apply high heat or hold for too long.

Step 6 — Continue Working Upward

Move to the next hair section in the same row, leaving approximately 2 cm of space between each tape-in pair. Once the bottom row is complete, release the next section of hair (about 3 cm higher), clip the rest away, and repeat. Continue working upward toward the crown.

Once all pairs are applied, let your hair down and check for visible tape edges, uneven placement or gaps. The tape should be invisible when your hair is down. • Never place tape on the hairline edge: Leave at least 3 cm of natural hair at the front hairline, part line and around the ears. Tape placed too close to edges becomes visible
• Keep 1 cm from the scalp: Tape touching the scalp causes irritation and itching. A 1 cm gap also allows natural movement without pulling
• Stagger the rows: Place tape-in pairs in a brick-like pattern — each row slightly offset from the row below. This prevents the extensions from creating visible lines
• Match width to section: The hair section between the tape should be the same width as the tape weft. Wider sections create weak bonds
• Do not stack: Never place a tape-in directly on top of another row's tape. Leave at least 2-3 cm between rows

After Application — First 48 Hours

The adhesive needs time to cure for maximum hold:

• Do not wash: Wait at least 48 hours before your first wash. Water weakens the adhesive before it fully cures
